Be my pillow?

t’s late at night
I cannot sleep
the moon is bright
reflecting off my sheet

This night is cold
my body is shivering
I need something to hold
to stop the quivering

So I grab a pillow
and hold it against me
wishing it were you
lieing next to me.

Recent Realizations that made my day:

- Many an Asian I know have names that fit in English phrases: Wu: Wu-hoo! Wei: Dude no Wei no Wei! Hobing: Hobing craaazy all up in here?!? - My new roommate, Preslie, and I have a great relationship because I wear the underpants and she wears the bras :P Its like the puzzle pieces (Yes Alicia I thought you :P) - Wet scattered leaves on the sidewalk are like splattered paint :) - I was enlightened to the existence of roller derby today in anthro discussion. I watched the trailer of “Whip It” to get a visual and now kinda wanna see it…or be a part of it :P - New phrase found, ironically, in a letter written by a schizophrenic about his younger brother’s suicide: “I am as fine as a blade a grass.” that’s all dudes! ~Aud

Yesterday, and Today

I’ve just had two such good and random days in a row I want to share:

Yesterday:
When I went get my bike to go to class, I couldn’t find it and thought I lost it, so I was like, screw it, and walked to class, during which I remembered I’d parked it on the other side of the building.
But if I had not walked to class, I would not have seen my 1st semester Spanish TA, who entertains me greatly, or the marvelous Christina Newkirk, to whom I gave an on-the-fly hug.
Later, before lunch, I read a highly amusing editorial in the Daily Iowan where a journalist talked about how the Egyptians freaked out about swine flu and killed all their pigs, not realizing that it was the pigs that ate all their garbage….so now that’s a mess. But he confessed that if people made completely rational decisions and lead completely ration lives, he’d be out a job!
And there was a Robert Cullen in the police blotter, which I thought was a coincidental combination of Robert Patterson and Edward Cullen.
Next, in my creative writing class, I realized Rob Cullen was in that class. Which by the way is a very laidback class and Sterling, the teacher, goes on philosophical tangents a lot. Like this time, he asked us, “How can you ever not be yourself?”
After that class I went to T-spoons, and while glancing out the window while studying, saw my 2nd semester spanish TA! and I’d never seen either of them outside of class either. Then I saw an open window that looked enticed, which led my eyes to the fire escape, which led my eyes to the roof, which led my eyes to a chimney with an angry face drawn on it. I nearly laughed out loud :P

Today:
I built a mini-flat in Theater Crafts! and tearing muslin is fun :P
I ate lunch with a very paranoid Brandon Jennings.
When I donated plasma today, I got to be the guinea pig for someone earning their red sticker (shows they can stick small veins), and he did a very good job and was like, “this is an odd profession for me cuz I don’t like hurting people” and he was all like, how’s this feel, how’s that, is this ok, etc, and i was just like, “yeah I’m fine good job dude!” People that care make my day.
Later I volunteered at Uptown Bill’s Small Mall. Which I’ve decided contains many an interesting personality. One guy tried to keep me from eating some cheesecake buy telling me I shouldn’t eat that kinda stuff after donating plasma because it would make my head explode. I met his friend, who wrote a book using only fortune cookie sayings, so not a single word is his, he just arranged them, over 2000 of them! Oh and we also discovered a box of straws from the 60’s that claimed to be “completely waterproof”, and I didn’t understand how else they could be, and then someone explained that straws used to be made out of waxed paper, so they got soggy. Soggy straws. Hm. *sigh* So much interesting random little things today :)

So let me get this straight:

This has been the past couple weeks for me:

Week 1) Relationship rockiness with Thane, broken camera, I went home, volunteered and learned to lay shingle, he went home and had a freaky experience, relationship renewed.

Week 2) Met Thane’s favorite relative, went home to work, came back, mutual ending of relationship.

Week 3) Busy with sorority stuff and random visits from Burlingtonians, got stuff back from Thane, tried to give him his camera back, he told me I could keep it.

Weekend) Went to Burlington, ate mulitcolored cupcakes, found a hubcap on a stump, went to the homecoming game, crashed at Jeff’s and scared my mother, next day hung out with random people, went hat-shopping, a good friend of a good friend died in Afghanistan, found out another friend is a father-to-be, next day saw a play by myself, made plans to bake special brownies and tye-dye.

Today:

Kyle left for National Guard.
He’ll be back in June.

Conclusion:

Random as shit.
