After like the tenth time it happened she wanted to say to the girl, “Is this still a thing, that only lesbians have short hair? Can’t pretty much anyone have short hair now?” But then she was like, Eh, yolo, and they made out.

I appreciate this heads up not just because its a heads up but because the way its framed makes me feel like its not the end of the world if I say something wrong as long as I can deal with the consequences, and that I shouldn’t refuse to say anything risky (unless its obviously not okay) because hopefully if people call me out and enlighten me as to why what I said was not okay, I will learn a lot more than if I keep my mouth shut.

Yesterday my mom posted a picture on Facebook of my 5 year old brother Sam wearing a pair of shoes he picked out for his first day of preschool.

She explained to him in the store that they were really made for girls. Sam then told her that he didn’t care and that “ninjas can wear pink shoes too.”

Sam went to preschool and got several compliments on his new shoes. Not one kid said anything negative toward him about it.

However, my mom received about 20 comments on the photo from various family members saying how “wrong” it is and how “things like this will affect him socially” and, put most eloquently by my great aunt, “that shit will turn him gay.”

My mom then deleted the photo and told Sam that he can wear whatever he wants to preschool, that it’s his decision. If he wants to wear pink shoes, he can wear pink shoes.

Sam then explained to her that he didn’t like them because they were pink, he liked them because they were “made out of zebras” and zebras are his favorite animal :)

So I was in line at the grocery store earlier, and there was an older lady in line behind me. She saw that I was wearing a bracelet with rainbow on it. She then asked me if I was gay, which I replied no. She then told me to take the bracelet off because it’s for “faggots.” To that I say, “Well I happen to like ‘faggots’.” Then the cashier heard the conversation and told the woman that that particular register was for faggots only, and asked her to leave. The woman said that she wanted to speak to the manager. The manager came and guess what, he was gay.

Lets just say the woman left without her groceries.

Damn fucking right. I approve of this most definitely.

Actual good anti rape campaign posters! They don’t shame victims, they ask people to examine their own actions and inactions and protect their friends. And not in a gross excuse for chivalry either, just as people keeping people safe.
